為什麼要拒絕考試?
(1) 有些人覺得不需要強迫小朋友面對考試。
(2) 有些人覺得這樣可以強迫學區改善學生教育，他們覺得選擇不考試是抗議濫用標準化考試的有效方式，這樣可以強迫學區關注學生的需求而不是成績。
(3) 有些人覺得這樣可以抵制種族主義政策，他們覺得標準化考試是種族主義武器。
(4) 有些人覺的小朋友應該要專心學習，而不是證明自己學到了什麼。
家長要如何幫小孩子拒絕CAASPP考試呢?
有一些學區是有特定的CAASPP Opt-Out Form的，如果有Form就超級簡單，通常是一張紙而已，上面會有考試項目，分別是Total CAASPP Exemption(該年全部的CAASPP考試) or Partial CAASPP Exemption Exemption(針對性的)，然後家長資料、簽名，就這樣，連理由都不用。
一般來說，父母親 或 監護者 需要書面寫一封信給學校校長 (不是給老師喔!)，讓校長知道你的孩子將不會參加CAASPP的考試。一般來說這樣就可以了，但是如果你擔心監考老師找麻煩，你可以另外copy一張opt out letter給老師。

選擇不考試的小朋友那段時間可以做什麼?
State officials有規定這段時間內小朋友可以閱讀或做功課，但是不可以無故離開學校。
我家附近有一所小學有Opt out考試的五年級小朋友離開學校的，還上了網路新聞，因為波霸店老闆娘很熱心地通知了警察。
(我一直以為所有學校都有鐵門。😂)
選擇不考試會影響小朋友的學業成績嗎?
不會，如果你的小朋友是 3 ~ 8 年級，選擇Opt out CAASPP就是Opt out掉了，沒有什麼特別的要求。
至於11年級的CAASPP考試我就不知道了，我身邊的小朋友沒有任何一個人Opt out掉11年級的CAASPP的，所以我也無法比較成績有沒有影響，不過網路上資料是說建議要考，但是沒說不考會怎樣。🤦♀️
選擇不考試會導致學校失去聯邦或州政府的資助嗎？
我覺得不會。
我知道的資訊是說測驗參加率未達到 95% 的州，聯邦政府”可以”撤回提供給該州的經費，但是CAASPP考試開始到目前為止，還沒有聽說有哪一州經費被收回的，加州好像也沒有對未達標準的學區採取任何行動的樣子。
選擇不考試對學校有其他的影響嗎?
多少有，如果參加考試低於95% 以下，學校的州評級會受到影響。
學校也可能會被貼上”in need of focused/targeted support”標籤。
