Ramen
Ramen is a Japanese style noodle soup, the noodle itself is made with wheat flour, various vegetable oils and flavorings. After the noodles are cooked, they serve it with a variety of soup bases, green onions, seaweed, and meat. Of course, there are many other combinations, but my favorite is the skinny ramen noodle with soy sauce flavored soup base, if you give it a chance, I am sure you’ll find your favorite combination as well.
It’s easy to find good ramen places in Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, and of course, Japan. Here in Los Angeles, it’s not too hard either. Little Tokyo, Rowland Heights, and Fullerton, if you look hard enough you will be able to find one or two good ramen places in every city of LA. Los Angeles has a lot of immigrants, so it’s easy to find authentic international foods here.
I grew up in a Mexican-Chinese family, seeing noodles on our dining table is pretty normal, compared to Chinese fried noodles, Korean famous Shin ramen, I still like Japanese style noodle soup the best. It is deliciou, warm and very filling. I enjoyed it very much , especially on a cold and chilly day nothing beats a steaming hot bowl of soy sauce ramen.
Even though I like ramen very much, I’m not interested in owning a shop. I’m not into restaurant business. While I am enjoying my delicious ramen. I am appreciating the business man who brought ramen to America or better yet, make it an international food for everyone to enjoy the bowl of happiness.
*In Japan, Ramen has a nickname: bowl of happiness.
